1. Who we are
The Button Method is operated by Gabrielle Hansen ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data we collect from you through this site.
2. What we collect and why
- Account information (email, display name, hashed password, or Google sign-in identifier) — to create your account, sign you in, and let you save data across devices. Legal basis: contract performance.
- Your content (button presses, journal entries, custom buttons, check-ins, settings) — to provide the service to you. Legal basis: contract performance.
- Device & usage data (IP address, browser/device type, basic logs, push-notification subscription if you enable reminders) — for security, fraud prevention, and reliability. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Support messages you send us — to answer your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Payment-card details are collected and processed directly by Paddle as Merchant of Record. We never see or store your card number.
3. Who we share data with
- Hosting & infrastructure providers (database, file storage, push delivery) — to operate the service.
- Paddle (Merchant of Record) — for checkout, subscription management, payments, invoicing, refunds, and tax compliance. See Paddle's privacy policy.
- Google — if you choose to sign in with Google, for authentication only.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) — only when needed.
- Authorities — only where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. International transfers
Some of our service providers (including Paddle) are based outside your country of residence. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or other appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
5. How long we keep your data
- Account & content data: while your account is active.
- After account deletion: removed or anonymised within 90 days, except where we must keep records to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations.
- Support emails: up to 24 months.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw any consent you have given. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@pressdifferently.com. We aim to respond within one month.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level database security — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
8. Cookies & local storage
We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Paddle may set its own cookies during checkout — see Paddle's privacy policy.
9. Children
The service is intended for adults. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this notice. Material changes will be communicated through the site or by email.
